Jenny’s Drama Journal (Sep 1st)

Before Starting…

In class we shared our opinions on the purpose of the VIEWPOINTs.  I thought it was not only for artistic talent but also building companionship or camaraderie. My classmates had a different ideas and I also accepted their ideas. Their ideas are followings;

+ Roh: For a confidence

+Dana: refelect herself how to convey everything (e.g., Viewpoints, Feelings, messages,stories) in a performance

In the class…

We learned that the major viewpoints are spatial relationships and kinesthetic response. I kept in mind those strategies and my weakness -according to Irene, mine was thinking too much about finding a place to move- and tried to respond myself only to external changes. We also focused walking extremely slow staying in a perfect line , using peripheral vision. Ms.Mor said that we started to articulate and work with specificity .

Journal Subject…

WHAT DO WE NEED TO REMEMBER IN ORDER TO KEEP GETTING BETTER AND TO HAVE AS MANY AS HAPPY ACCIDENTS AS POSSIBLE?

My opinions are followings

To keep getting better and have many happy accidents, we have to focus mainly on VIEWPOINTs, Teamwork and 4S Skills.

While doing performance, I realized Teamwork is the important thing. Thanks to my partner, I was able to correct my performance and get better. Also while observating others’ performance, we could improve our performances by keeping in mind what was good and bad, in terms of their performance.

Also bear in mind the Viewpoints, especially the spatial relationship and kinesthetic response.

4S skills

1. Be aware of specificity.

2. Be spontaneous : Do not think too much. You respond only to your mates’ movement. Certain patterns make audience bored. Be unforeseeable.

3. Singular : Relying TOO MUCH on classmates cannot provide the atmosphere to create your OWN stories.

4. There are two sound skills – One  is Get along with Music. The other is be silent when you run extremely fast or walk slow.

These strategies will make us to be beautiful performer. I look forward to create happy accidents as many as we can.
